It also induced the synthesis of prostaglandin E2, interstitial collagenase, and gelatinase B in monocyte cell cultures. Laminin fragments containing the SIKVAV sequence may contribute to the inflammatory response at sites of wound healing.They may also play a role in the excessive induction of metalloproteinases in chronic inflammatory lesions.
